Koishikawa Korakuen Garden (小石川後楽園) was built in 1629 by Yorifusa Tokugawa. His son Mitsukuni completed the work, also introducing Confucian-inspired elements. Some areas of the garden depict famous Chinese landscapes.
Now it’s lotus and water lily season!
Here are some photos taken on July 13, 2025.
Splendid lotus flowers can be admired in the pond in the main area.
Magnificent water lilies bloom in the eastern pond, near the Chinese-style Karamon Gate. The Tokyo Dome baseball stadium is also visible in the background.
Lotus flowers can generally be admired until the end of July, while water lilies continue to bloom until August.
Outside the garden you can still see the walls, built with stones from the original walls of Edo Castle.
