Tokyo Tower, a symbol of Tokyo

Leaving the Oedo metro line stop, it is easy to recognize the Tokyo Tower, one of the symbols of Tokyo. Its shape is very similar to that of the Eiffel Tower.

Tokyo Tower Torre Giappone

Tokyo Tower was built in 1958, for many years it was used for telecommunications in the Tokyo area. It is 333 meters high and we can go up to the main observatory (150 m) and the Top Deck observatory (250 m with the guided tour of the Tokyo Tower).

From the observatory, you can admire the Tokyo Skytree, Mount Fuji, and many Tokyo skyscrapers etc…

At the foot of the Tokyo Tower, there is the Buddhist Zojo-ji Temple (増上寺), where some Samurai generals sleep.

In the observatory, there is also a shrine. They sell Shinto amulets and stamps for those who collect them. They say it’s the Shinto stamp you can get at the highest place in central Tokyo.

Atago Shrine 愛宕神社

In the area there is the Atago sanctuary, where there are “Stairways of Success in Work”. Whoever climbs up the stairs can have a career.

A few steps from the Atago Shrine, there are the Toranomon Hills buildings. The area is called Toranomon, literally meaning “tiger gate”. So there is a Doraemon figurine from Tiger

From the Toranomon area, passing through Kasumigaseki, the neighborhood where there are many government offices, we arrive at the Imperial residence.
